Multi-Provider Carbon-Aware Workloads

Access AWS, Azure, and soon Oracle and Google Cloud. CarbonRunner dynamically shifts jobs to the lowest CO₂ regions for greener performance.

Current Provider Support: AWS and Azure

Currently, CarbonRunner integrates seamlessly with AWS and Microsoft Azure. By utilizing the greenest servers that these cloud providers offer, we ensure that your workloads run with minimal environmental impact. Both AWS and Azure provide robust support for renewable energy in select regions, allowing us to intelligently swap jobs between these regions based on real-time grid carbon intensity data.

Coming Soon: Oracle and Google Cloud

We're thrilled to announce that support for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Google Cloud Platform is on the horizon. These providers also offer high-performance, environmentally-conscious server options, and integrating them into CarbonRunner will further enhance our ability to reduce emissions while meeting diverse workload needs. Stay tuned for updates as we roll out these capabilities.

"Expanding our provider network means more options and greater flexibility for businesses to reduce CO₂ emissions without compromising performance."

How It Works: Intelligent Workload Shifting

CarbonRunner's multi-provider functionality leverages real-time data to determine the carbon intensity of various regions across our supported providers. Here's how it works:

  • Grid Intensity Monitoring: Our system continuously tracks CO₂ emissions for power grids in various data center regions.
  • Intelligent, Dynamic Job Allocation: Based on grid intensity, workloads are automatically rerouted to the greenest data center available at the time of execution.
  • Provider and Region Preferences: Users can specify preferences for particular providers, regions, or both, allowing for greater control over workload placement.

This system ensures that every job runs in the most carbon-efficient location possible without compromising performance or flexibility.

Use Cases: From CI/CD Pipelines to Gaming

Our multi-provider approach enables carbon-aware optimization across a variety of use cases:

  • CI/CD Pipelines: Build and deploy your software while minimizing the carbon footprint of your development lifecycle.
  • Video Processing: Process and transcode video files using servers powered by renewable energy.
  • Gaming Workloads: Host gaming servers or render graphics with the assurance that your environmental impact is being actively minimized.

Future-Proofing for Sustainability

This is just the beginning. As cloud providers expand their renewable energy initiatives and as new providers emerge, we're committed to integrating even more options into CarbonRunner. Our vision is to create a platform that offers unparalleled flexibility and environmental efficiency, making it easier than ever to align your workloads with your sustainability goals.

Ready to Go Green?

If you're as excited as we are about the possibilities of multi-provider support in CarbonRunner, it's time to take the next step. Start reducing the carbon footprint of your workloads today by leveraging the power of carbon-aware optimization across AWS and Azure, with more providers just around the corner.
