Our Story 🌱🌱🌻
Back in 2023, two of our tech-loving, tree-hugging founders, Byron and Dryden Williams, delved into the carbon emissions of the internet with their tool EcoPing.earth. Driven to reduce not just their impact but that of the entire tech industry, they explored the challenges posed by hosting, grid intensities, transfer sizes, and the massive growth of digital services. The seed was planted.
As Byron and Dryden focused on technical innovation, they found their perfect complement in Nick Turner. With years of experience ensuring customer success at some of the world's largest FinTech companies, Nick brought strategic insight and operational expertise to the team. Together, they formed a powerful trio—a perfect balance of technical brilliance, environmental passion, and business strategy.
Their combined strengths led to the founding of CarbonRunner in late 2024, a carbon-aware GitHub Action Runner designed to shift workloads to the lowest CO2 regions globally. By building carbon-aware infrastructure, they are shaping the way for a truly sustainable business—empowering people and companies to reduce the emissions of their AI, CI/CD processes, video rendering, and game development.
